Sensor Capture

Overlay structural-load sensor readings on your BIM model as a live heatmap.

Sensor Capture dashboard

Using Sensor Capture

Sensor Capture visualizes structural-load sensor data directly on your 3D BIM model as a heatmap, so you can see utilization and load across the structure at a glance. It's an optional module — it only appears in the left-side menu if enabled for your project (see Account & Team Settings).

1. Accessing Sensor Capture

1. Navigate to Sensor Capture:

  • In the left-side menu, under Sensor Capture, click SC Dashboard.
  • If no IFC files are loaded yet, you'll see a prompt to add IFC files to enable Sensor Capture first.

2. How the Heatmap Is Built

  • Once a model is loaded, Bimefy tries to resolve each sensor's real-world position from the model's IFC metadata. If a sensor can't be matched to the model, it's placed on an auto-distributed grid across the model's bounding box instead, so you still get full coverage.
  • A "Scanning sensors & creating heatzones…" indicator appears while this process runs.

3. Sensor Readings Panel

  • A floating panel lists sensors grouped by zone (e.g. "Zone Z1"), each showing:
    • Utilization %, color-coded green (low), amber (moderate), or red (high).
    • Estimated load in kN.
  • Summary stats at the top show average utilization, a critical-sensor count, and healthy/warning counts.
  • Readings refresh automatically, with a live countdown to the next refresh (every 60 seconds).
  • Sensors that are tagged in the IFC model but have no measurements yet appear in a separate "No Data" section.

4. Best Practices

  • Keep IFC Tagging Consistent: sensors matched to real IFC positions are more accurate than grid-placed ones — tag sensor locations in your model where possible.
  • Watch the Critical Count: use the summary stats to quickly spot zones needing attention before drilling into individual readings.
