Planning integration

Connect your Primavera schedule to site reality

Primavera holds the construction programme. Bimefy connects those activities to the model and to captured site progress, so the plan can be checked against the site.

Connect Primavera with Bimefy

Bimefy is a construction site intelligence platform. It connects BIM, construction planning, cameras, reality capture and site data so teams can compare what was planned with what is actually happening on site.

Oracle Primavera P6 is where many contractors build and maintain the construction programme: the work breakdown structure, the activities, the durations, the logic and the milestones that the project is measured against.

Bimefy connects to Primavera and brings activity data into the project. Schedules can be connected through the Primavera API, and programmes exported as XER or MS Project files can be imported directly, which is often the faster route when the schedule is maintained by a separate planning team.

Once activities are in Bimefy they can be linked to model components and to captured site evidence. That link is what turns a programme into something verifiable: an activity is no longer just a bar on a chart, it points at the part of the building it describes and at the imagery showing that part today.

Primavera remains the scheduling environment. Bimefy does not re-plan the works or replace the programme; it adds the reality and model context around it.

What the integration enables

What connecting Primavera to Bimefy gives a project team.

Connect to Primavera P6

Connect a Primavera environment and select the workspace and project whose activities should be brought into Bimefy.

Bring activities into the project

Activities, the work breakdown structure and planned dates are read into Bimefy so the programme is visible next to the model and the site.

Import XER and MS Project files

Where a live connection is not practical, import an exported XER or MS Project programme instead and keep the outline structure intact.

Compare planned with actual

Set planned activities against captured site progress to see where the work on the ground is ahead of, behind or in line with the programme.

Build a 4D view

Link activities to model components so the construction sequence can be reviewed against the model rather than read off a bar chart.

Watch milestones

Track milestone activities and flag the ones that have passed their date, with captured site evidence attached.

How the Primavera integration works

From programme to a comparison you can act on.

  1. 1Connect

Connect your Primavera environment, or upload an exported XER or MS Project programme.

  2. 2Import activities

Bring the work breakdown structure, activities and planned dates into the Bimefy project.

  3. 3Link to the model

Associate activities with the model components they describe, so the programme has a physical location.

  4. 4Compare

Set the programme against captured site progress and review where actual work differs from the plan.

What teams do with it

Concrete planning workflows this combination supports.

Compare Primavera activities with actual site progress

Take the activities that should be complete this week and check them against the most recent captures of the same location.

Create a 4D view from BIM and the programme

Combine model components with planned activity dates to review the construction sequence before and during the works.

Verify reported progress

Support progress reporting with captured site evidence instead of relying on a percentage entered by hand.

Back milestones with site evidence

When a milestone is claimed, attach the captures of that area from the relevant date to the record.

Why Bimefy and Primavera work well together

Primavera is built to plan and maintain a construction programme at scale. It describes what should happen, in what order, and by when. What it cannot do on its own is confirm whether the site agrees.

Bimefy brings the other two inputs: the model, which says what the work physically is, and reality capture, which shows what has been built. Connect a programme to those and every activity gains a location and a piece of evidence.

The planning team keeps working in Primavera. The difference is that progress reported back into the programme can be checked against the site rather than taken on trust.

Who is this for?

Roles that get the most out of this integration.

  • Planners who maintain the programme and want progress they can verify.
  • Project managers reporting on schedule performance to the client.
  • Construction managers checking whether this week's activities match the site.
  • BIM managers connecting the programme to model components for 4D.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bimefy support Primavera P6?

Yes. Bimefy can connect to a Primavera P6 environment and read workspaces, projects, the work breakdown structure and activities.

How does Bimefy connect to Primavera?

Through the Primavera API. The connection is configured per project in Bimefy's integration settings, and access is limited to the project you select.

Can Bimefy import an XER or MS Project file?

Yes. Exported XER and MS Project programmes can be imported directly, which is often simpler when the schedule is maintained by a separate planning team.

Does Bimefy replace Primavera?

No. Primavera remains the scheduling and planning environment. Bimefy adds model context and captured site reality around the programme.

Can Primavera activities be connected to BIM elements?

Yes. Activities can be linked to model components, which is what makes a 4D view and progress reporting against the model possible.

Does Bimefy change the schedule in Primavera?

Bimefy is used to read the programme and compare it with the site. Planning changes continue to be made in Primavera by the planning team.
