3D Views
View and compare multiple models in fixed 3D perspectives to monitor construction progress and identify issues.
Using the 3D Views Feature
The 3D Views feature allows you to select one or more models and display them together in a fixed view. You can define specific camera angles for easy comparison between your models and real-world construction site images, helping you track progress, spot discrepancies, and flag safety concerns.
1. Accessing the 3D Views
1. Locate the 3D Views Button:
On the project dashboard, find the 3D Views button.
2. Select Your Models:
Choose one or more models (e.g., IFC, RVT) from your project to display together in a fixed 3D view. You can load multiple models simultaneously to view and compare them side-by-side.
2. Defining Specific Cameras
1. Set Fixed Camera Angles:
Define specific camera positions on the models to capture crucial perspectives. These predefined angles allow you to compare the model with actual site photos for more accurate progress monitoring.
2. Saving and Reusing Camera Views:
Save these camera positions for quick access and reuse. This allows for consistent comparisons over time, especially useful in long-term monitoring of construction progress.
3. Monitoring Construction Progress
1. Compare to Real-World Photos:
Upload pictures from the actual construction site and align them with the predefined camera angles in the 3D model. This enables a direct comparison between the model and the current state of the site, highlighting any progress made or discrepancies that may have arisen.
2. Identify Discrepancies:
Use the side-by-side comparison to spot any differences between the model and what has been constructed on-site. This can help identify deviations from the design, missed elements, or construction errors early in the process.
3. Flag Safety Issues:
As you compare the model with the physical site, any safety risks or potential hazards can be flagged directly in the platform. This ensures that safety issues are addressed promptly, keeping the project compliant with regulations.
4. Enhancing Collaboration and Reporting
- Share Views with Team:
Save and share specific 3D views with your team for collaboration and review. You can present progress or discrepancies to stakeholders in an easy-to-understand format.
- Generate Reports:
Use the 3D views and comparisons to generate detailed reports on construction progress, discrepancies, or safety concerns. These reports can be shared with the broader team or external parties for follow-up.
5. Optimizing 3D Views for Monitoring
- Update Regularly:
Regularly update your camera views and site photos to keep track of ongoing progress. Consistent monitoring ensures potential issues are caught early and addressed quickly.
- Flexible Comparisons:
The 3D Views feature supports multiple models, allowing you to compare as many as needed for complex projects involving different disciplines (e.g., architecture, MEP, structural).
